Name: Juliette Taufui

“Being different and being able to stand out is the most important thing to me as a designer.  I am very big on producing my own samples from scratch, as I love producing my sketch/idea or vision myself.  I believe patternmaking, cutting and construction is a huge part in being a designer as well as producing your own work.  I love the fact that people will say to me “ it is very you” or “ You can tell that was your garment” when they see my garments”

– Juliette Taufui 2014

When Juliette turned 21 she decided to do something about her love for fashion. In the past 8 years she has acquired experience with formal, bridal, ready to wear, street and high-end fashion. Her passion for fashion has led to her teaching level 3 patternmaking at DAS Training for the past four years.

“In the last two years I have showcased at Cult Couture Shows. I would say the best part about my journey is helping students. It is always great to see what they are capable of and what is possible for their fashion careers”.

During her time in the fashion industry Juliette has found inspiration in life. Walking into a fabric shop and looking at all the prints and colours has nearly always resulted in a non-stop flow of ideas.

As a designer who does not have a favourite designer or follows trends, Juliette is known for her ability to mix clashing prints and colours to create something unique.

“To me fashion means being able to be creative, and to be different. It means being able to create with no limits. It does not mean being the same as everyone else!  I like my designs to be bold and unique with their own look and style.  Fashion changes constantly but your style will always be you and who you are”.
